Lake Okeechobee is on Fire!!!!! Crazy good!!

Okeechobee on fire!!!
Sensational fishing kicks off 2011 Walmart FLW Tour season in style

Day-one leader Chad Prough holds up part of his 35-pound, 3-ounce stringer. Day one of the 2011 Walmart FLW Tour opener wasn’t better, it was way better. The heaviest sack of the day weighed a staggering 35 pounds, but the true testament to the strength of the bite was depth. A 20-pound stringer, a major feat for any tournament pro, would put you precisely in 52nd place – just below the cutoff for the big $10,000 checks. Fifteen pounds puts an angler in 100th place – a weight that will be considered lofty next month on Beaver Lake.

Lake Okeechobee over the last few 6 months has been very good, I know that the reports are all sounding the same...but the "Old Girl" just keeps on going....

Lake Okeechobee in my opinion is the best lake in the country... Big Bass and Good Weather...except this week...pretty cold down here in South Florida.

The last few weeks the big bass have been crushing the live bait all over the lake. The areas around Ritta island and the shoal have been good. The lure fishing is still good with most of the action coming off spinner baits and flipping.

New for this year... 18.5 New Stratos Bass Boats for rent with trolling motor and GPS....this is a great choice after hiring a guide for the day.

The month of November marks the official start of the Big Bass Season here on Lake Okeechobee in Hendry County. This November has been producing better than I can remember in many years. With the lake habitat thicker than ever and a medium lake level the big bass are going off.

Everyday this month the lake has been producing bass over 8lbs and...

What a great month March turned out to be here on the Big “O” with cold weather and the bass biting. Yes the cold weather was hard to deal with but since the bass fishing was on fire it took the sting of freezing away. April is starting with a bang and looks to me like the fishing will only improve including the bluegill fishing. With the rain that South Florida has been getting the lake level is up to 14.71 feet above sea level. This lake level is a

Will it ever get warm here in South Florida? That has been the question for the past few months and we all keep hoping a warming trend is on the way. The fishing has been up and down as the cold fronts move through the area, but for the most part there are plenty of bass to catch even on the cold nasty days. The weather man says that warm weather is on the way and that will surely put the bass back on the beds here on Lake Okeechobee.

February has started out great here on Lake Okeechobee with bass being caught on both wild shiners and artificial lures fished in the grass and out in open water. Sounds like you can catch bass almost anywhere on the lake right, well it can be done on certain days but it does take the right wind and conditions.
